Though Samsung and Apple have had a fallout over the design issues, the two companies could still work together in many years to come as Samsung continues to be the sole supplier to many of the internal components like DRAM and other memory chips found inside many of the Apple devices.
The Korean giant has managed to set up a strict internal policy making it’s components operations and mobile phone business operations completely separate business entities in order to avoid a backlash of the recent patent war with Apple. The company also plans to appeal against the $1.05 billion order against it.
Both companies have a lot to loose if there is a fallout between the two because of the patent suit as close to 30 % of the internal components inside Apple products are made by Samsung and this is likely to grow considering that the Korean company is a leader in screen and memory technology. The partnership between the two companies is also set to grow in the coming years as the component sales are contributing to about 8 % of the companies profit and this could grow even further with the launch of the next iPhone.
